The New York Times today reports that a key government official actually said that if the US pulls out of Iraq there might be grim consequences, especially the infiltration of outsiders looking to create havoc in Iraq or looking to take it over.

What news! Didn’t anyone listen to what critics of the war said before we blew into Iraq using the “shock and awe” of vast superiority. There was not one preson who had an answer to the questions about how Iraq can hold its own, without Saddam in power. But President Bush and his administration told us all that the US forces would be welcomed with open arms from all Iraqis. He told the world either you are for us or you are against us, so we could not question his administration with a thought that maybe the power void would create chaos in the Middle East. But while no one asked the question out loud, many critics quietly questioned who would be able to keep the major Iraqi factions from fighting with each other, or who would keep outsiders from attempts to take over all facets of Iraq life. But the President of the US had the answers. The Iraqis will all welcome the US soldiers with open arms. Actually most of the Iraqis have welcomed the US soldiers with hidden arms and use those arms everyday to create havoc amongst the population and death to Americans and Iraqis alike.

So now we have a member of our government speaking about the possibility that withdrawing our soldiers might be a worse scenario than leaving our soldiers there. This is the same day that President Bush held a town meeting in Cleveland, Ohio to remind us that we must “stay the course”.

We must not stay the course. We must hold George Bush personally liable for the mistakes he made. I am not talking about impeachment. I am talking about using his personal assets (as well as Dick Cheney’s, Donald Rumsfeld, and all of the ranking members of his administration) and creating a fund for Americans and Iraqis who have been damaged by this terrible mistake.

For the past several months I have believed that the Presidency will pass in January 2009 and history will show the evil doings of this administration, but now, I am starting to feel that this is not enough. Bush and his cronies may go down as the worst administration in history, but they will laugh at history writers all the way to the bank. That is the torture we must but upon them all. Take their wealth and distribute it to Cindy Sheehan, and the families of the thousands of young men and women who have been sacrificed. But that fund must also be shared by the families of the many other Iraqis who have been sacrificed, who did not sign up for this war. The solution is still not apparent, but bring our children home NOW. Let the politics or powers of the world assure a new balance in Iraq. But the amassed wealth of Cheney, Bush, and his administration representatives must be used to assist those less fortunate than them. That is the solution. That is what we must do now, and that is what the citizens of the world should call for. How loud do you all want to yell?
